A large leather hide Trunk with 2 belt straps and large carrying handles.
The trunk is fitted with 3 hidden metal bands riveted to the top and 2 to each side to strengthen it. It also has applied leather corners and hems to the edges as well as riveted leather straps to the bottom edges. All added to prepare the trunk for the rigours of travel. The interior has corner supports showing that it originally had a tray, now missing. It also has 3 belt straps to the bottom to hold the contents in place. The lock flap is a period replacement and is stamped with details for Drew of Piccadilly. The original flap would have been similar in shape and size but it is doubtful that it would have Drew's details.
A good sized, well-made trunk. Late 19th Century.
