This mahogany Hat and Wig Rack stands out from most in that it has feet to allow it to be stood on a surface as well as hung.
The rack is made to hang but also with folding feet to allow it to be stood on a table top. The feet are the width of the frame and thin so when folded to hang the rack, they are hardly noticed. Although relatively plain, the large hooks have crisp turnings as a concession to decoration. Early to mid 19th Century.
