A pair of brass Brighton Bun Travelling Candlesticks.
The dishes of this pair of candlesticks are made from pressed brass whilst the sconces are made of cast brass. To pack the candlesticks for travel the two sconces are simply unscrewed from their dishes. They are then placed inside one of the dishes with the other dish screwed onto the first to form a round bun shape. Brighton Buns were first made at the end of the 18th Century and were still being produced in the 1930s. They have also been made out of a variety of materials including silver, brass and a number of different woods.
This size and material of this set date them to either side of 1900.
Size of each is given.
